She/Her

Hi, I’m Scout!

As a transwoman who has the pleasure to work with other transgender and queer humans, it is a privilege to be a part of your journey. I started Mockingbird Counseling to be a place where our community could feel comfortable dealing with the challenges we face. A place where everyone, regardless of their individual challenges or needs, can feel safe and supported as they explore their authenticity and its expression. I practice from an affirmative framework, which means that whoever you are, I accept and affirm you. Many aspects of our lives and identity change over time and with experience and it is essential to explore and be affirmed for these changes. I provide a space where you can openly discuss these changes without fear of judgment, overreaction, or shame. I want to support your journey and help find ways to make it easier and more fulfilling for you.

In my career, I have worked with all kinds of incredible humans and one thing that is clear to me is that each of us is wonderful just for who we are. We make mistakes, we have regrets, but ultimately, these things can help us learn how to avoid them in the future and grow into the incredible people we are! I will always remind you of the extraordinary and unique person you are and give you the space to truly be that person.

I am located in Seattle, Washington and I primarily offer telehealth-based therapy to both Ohio and Washington clients. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is individualized and so I will never try to “shoehorn” you into a specific approach or methodology. I want to work with you to figure out what your goals are and then help you meet them. So often we are forced to face challenges alone, I will give you a space where you are never alone and where we can work together to resolve the challenges you face.

It takes an immense amount of courage to realize that the way you have always done something or the way you’ve always been perceived doesn’t work anymore. Let’s work together to find new ways that do.

She/Her

Welcome!

First, I want to say that I'm proud of you for taking this first step of looking into therapy. I am here because I believe that, generally, our society struggles to hold space for heavy feelings. We may often feel emotionally dismissed or misunderstood by others. I am here to hold that space for you. My approach as a therapist is highly collaborative. I believe that the client is the expert of themselves, and that I am here to, ideally, do things like provide insight, support, access to resources, teach skills, etc. I work with adolescents, couples, and adults of all ages. I have prioritized gender affirming therapy over the last six years of my career. I am a queer and neurodivergent-affirming therapist, and practice through an affirming, person centered lens. I apply principles of neuroscience to my approach, bringing the science of understanding the brain into the humanity of counseling.

I aim to be open and genuine in sessions with you, and I welcome feedback from my clients about what does and does not work for them. When needed, I am able to be directive in sessions. This approach can be particularly beneficial in couples sessions. While I have therapeutic lens that I practice through, I craft my approach to what will best serve the client; whether that is being highly directive, or holding space for you to vent about and process your thoughts and feelings. I welcome the possibility of working with you, and would love to have a consultation call to determine if we would work well together!

Asking for help is one of the most challenging things we can do, and I want to help you in any way I can.

They/Them

Hello!

This world is complex and full of contradictions, full of beauty and hate, full of endless barriers and infinite possibility. We are all doing our best to keep going even when that feels impossibly difficult. Life and relationships can get so messy that it can be hard to imagine there could be a path to anything joyful, restful, fulfilling. I am here to dive into the complexity and contradictions with you, to help you find and expand your sense of self, to tap into your strengths and unlock your capacity to navigate this wild world with confidence and joy.

I believe every person is unique, and it is exactly within that uniqueness that lies the potential for deep connection to ourselves, to others, and to the world. I am not going to apply a specific therapeutic formula onto you. We will work together to find a healing path that heads towards the growth you are searching for. We will move beyond managing symptoms to exploring root causes, fostering a deep sense of safety and self-trust. I stay actively engaged in every session, using attentive listening, insight, and critical thinking to help you get to the places you haven’t easily been able to reach on your own. And we’ll have fun doing it. Healing should not be some painful experience that we have to get through to have a good life. I believe it can and should be full of humor and joy.

I am a white, non-binary trauma therapist. I specialize in supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault, incarceration, and systemic oppression. I love working with queer and trans people, as well as anyone who has felt othered or stigmatized by society. If you want to head towards a present, engaged life guided and grounded by your values, I am here to help."
